Biography
In February 2005, Roger Wallace joined Pioneer Natural Resources as Vice President, Government Affairs. Wallace is responsible for building and maintaining Pioneer’s relationships with governments and governmental agencies at the federal and state levels. He manages Pioneer’s strategy for legislative advocacy and advises management on political factors that can affect investment decisions. In addition, he supervises Pioneer’s relations with foreign governments in countries where the Company has interests.
Prior to joining Pioneer, Wallace served as President and CEO of Investamex, an investment and consulting firm he co-founded in 1993.
From 1991 until 1993, Wallace was the Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the United States Embassy in Mexico City. He was the principal U.S. government representative in Mexico responsible for bilateral trade and investment activities.
From 1989 to August 1991, he served as the Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, managing the day-to-day activities of the International Trade Administration. As Deputy Under Secretary, he was responsible for coordinating the Commerce Department's role during the preparatory phases of the North American Free Trade negotiations, for which he received the Department’s highest award.
Wallace graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University. He received a Master of Arts degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy with post-graduate work at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute Advisory Board. In 2004, he was named by President Bush to serve as Chairman of the Inter-American Foundation. He also served as Chairman of the Asia Society of Texas and Trustee of the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies. He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations.
