Comments from our President

Greetings,

Well it’s August and everyone is enjoying the Texas heat. As we look forward to the first meeting in September, I want to remind everyone that the Society is offering sponsorship opportunities. Speaker gifts, lunches, and coffee service are some of the things that are open at this time. The sponsor’s name and logo will be posted on the introductory slides before the meeting. Lunch is free at the September meeting for every member who has paid their dues. Pay your dues and get a free lunch, heck of a deal.

Naresh Kumar, President Elect, is  holding a “Week of Training” October 20 – 24. See the link on our website for more information.

Many things are happening in our industry and it is an exciting time.  We are all busy, and finding time to attend meeting and training courses is difficult.  Please support our Society and attend as many meetings as you can.  Wayne Edson is putting together a list of outstanding talks and case studies that I feel that we all will get a lot out of.  Also let’s give Ernie Siraki, Tracy Stark and their teams a round of applause for their efforts organizing and putting the technical programs together for this year’s SEG in Las Vegas.  Even though, the Dallas Geophysical Society was prevented from hosting the SEG this year, through these gentlemen, the DGS has had a strong influence.

Also, Cathy Nabors, a 5th grade science teacher, is looking for core samples for her class.  Anybody with suggestions, please contact her at cathy_nabors@yahoo.com

Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you on September 18.

Daniel Winn

DGS President 2008-2009
